Audio Engineering, MIDI Production, Music Producing and Music Business.
A twenty-year Los Angeles based music industry veteran as producer, songwriter, composer, engineer and session musician, with a client list including Prince, Michael Jackson, Brian Wilson, Jeff Beck, Jodie Watley, Adam Ant, Warner Bros., Paramount and NBC, in 2004, turned his attention to teaching Audio Engineering, Producing and Music Business at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He holds a degree in Music and Philosophy from Indiana University and a Master of Legal Studies from SIU School of Law, with a concentration in Intellectual Property.
In addition to his teaching, Todd is also the faculty advisor to Digital Dog Records, the student run record label. The label hosts the Mid West Music Festival, which features local and regional acts, as well as academic components including industry panels, recording and mixing workshops, and songwriting/producing seminars. He started the summer internship program in Nashville for the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts at SIU. Through his combined business and teaching experience along with diverse industry contacts, he continues to build a learning sequence resulting in top students being accepted to coveted internship positions in Nashville, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.
Industry affiliations include: NARAS, voting member; ASCAP, writer and publisher; member of Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA).
Todd is an avid runner, having completed four marathons (Los Angeles x2; Big Sur, Atlanta – the Olympic course), eight half-marathons, dozens of 10k races, and the great River2River Relay. He loves to cook and makes a killer risotto, hand-made pasta, and a pizza to die for.
