Screenwriting
Dru Vratil, Associate Professor, Screenwriting, recently returned from a sabbatical leave, during which she completed a feature length experimental screenplay, “Vy’s Place,” and finished the research for a second untitled feature screenplay about women who served in the military during the Vietnam War. Sections of “Vy’s Place” were workshopped at the UFVA Conference in New Orleans in August.
During the upcoming year, she hopes to continue working on her experimental documentary, “South of Grover Revisited,” a telling of the journey she and her father embarked upon when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
This fall she is teaching both a short form screenwriting class, Writing the Short Film, and a class for mid level feature screenwriting students, Screenwriting 2. During the Spring 2010 semester, she’ll be teaching Writing the Short Film again, as well as Senior Thesis Screenwriting. She continues to represent the College faculty as the CMCMA representative to the Faculty Association.
