Southern Illinois University Carbondale's College of Mass Communication and Media Arts New York Studies Program allows students to gain hands-on experience while earning academic credit by doing internships in media industries in New York City. Launched in 2005 with the help of our alumni and friends, New York Studies was the third of MCMA's Studies Programs.

Where might I intern?

Through New York Studies, students from SIUC are placed in summer internships with media companies to gain experience and insight into their chosen fields. The internship base is constantly expanding with new opportunities being added for students. Last year, New York Studies students interned at Hosea Johnson Photography, The Idea Factory / Genuine Entertainment, NMA Entertainment & Marketing, New York One News, Producers' Advantage / Classic Entertainment Group, WOR Radio, Cornucopia Productions, Arbitron, and NBC Universal.
