Southern Illinois University Carbondale's College of Mass Communication and Media Arts Chicago Studies Program allows students to gain hands-on experience while earning academic credit by doing internships in media industries in Chicago. Launched in 1998 with the help of our alumni and friends, Chicago Studies was the second of MCMA's Studies Programs.

Where might I intern?

Through Chicago Studies, students from SIUC are placed in summer internships with media companies to gain experience and insight into their chosen fields. The internship base is constantly expanding with new opportunities being added for students. Last year, Chicago Studies students interned at Freeman Pictures, Big Shoulders Digital Video, Crawford Broadcasting, Salem Baptist Church of Chicago, SRN Sports Broadcasting, Summit Marketing, Chicago Creative Arts Coalition, B96.3, the Chicago Rockstars, Pixel Brothers, Solid Line Media, and Draft Worldwide.
